Conceived specifically for Palazzo Nani Bernardo, the exhibition brings together a previously
unseen body of work developed in dialogue with the dining room of this 18th-century Venetian residence. The artist presents an offering table, around which large-scale objects unfold, created from textiles and semi-precious stones and conceived in resonance with the proportions of the palazzo. The installation, unprecedented in scale within Saramito’s practice, places her work within an immersive and monumental dimension, responding directly to the architecture and history of the site. Her work resonates particularly with the history of table decoration, invoking both the pictorial tradition of the Renaissance from Botticelli to representations of abundance and the pantagruelian imagination of the banquet. The table becomes a stage, a place where power, profusion and desire are theatrically enacted. Object of Desire, curated by Selcan Atilgan, co-curated by Laurence Dreyfus
