Presented in collaboration between Bodrum Loft, Artsa Consultancy, and Almine Rech Gallery, I Was Here marks Almine Rech’s first exhibition in Turkey. Set against the sculptural landscape of Bodrum Loft—where stone, wind, and sea converge—the exhibition reflects on the notion of presence and the traces we leave behind.
Through the works of César, Agustín Cárdenas, Alejandro Cardenas, En Iwamura, Tia-Thuy Nguyen, and Ryan Schneider, the exhibition meditates on existence as both fleeting and eternal. César’s iconic Pouce anchors the show with its monumental intimacy, while Agustín Cárdenas’s fluid bronze forms echo an organic sensuality between time and spirit. His son, Alejandro Cardenas, extends this legacy through futuristic, meditative figures inhabiting dreamlike architectures.
Japanese sculptor En Iwamura introduces the philosophy of Ma—the space between things—inviting contemplation of coexistence between presence and absence. Vietnamese-French artist Tia-Thuy Nguyen transforms remnants of nature into acts of gentle rebirth, and Ryan Schneider’s vibrant bronze deities celebrate transformation through ritual and emotion.
I Was Here traces the delicate balance between permanence and disappearance—where existence becomes a whisper, a gesture, a mark that insists on being remembered.
